Business Consulting with a clear point of view
We started this firm because too many consultancies deliver reports that sit in drawers. Our work is built to be used, not filed.
How we got here
Business Wisdom Partners was founded in 2018 by two people who had spent a combined 28 years inside large consulting firms. The work was interesting, but the delivery model frustrated us. Projects ran long, teams were overstaffed, and the final recommendations often arrived too late for the client to act on them.
We left to build something smaller and faster. The first year we worked from a co-working space in Edinburgh with three clients. By the end of 2020 we had a team of five and a waiting list.
Today we are a team of nine. We still take on only the number of engagements we can serve well at any one time, which means we occasionally ask new clients to wait a few weeks before we start. That constraint is deliberate: rushed consulting produces generic advice, and generic advice wastes money.
Our office is at 102 Windsor Drive, Lindgren Hill, Scotland, TI4 6HE, United Kingdom. Most of our client work happens on-site at their premises or over video calls, depending on what the project requires.
What we believe
Three principles guide every engagement, from the first phone call to the final review meeting.
Clarity over volume
A ten-page report that answers the right question is worth more than a hundred slides that circle around it. We write short documents with concrete numbers and specific next steps. If a recommendation requires a paragraph to justify, we include the paragraph. If it doesn't, we don't pad it.
Ownership stays with you
We don't build systems that require us to maintain them. Every model, process map or training programme we deliver is designed so your team can run it independently once the engagement ends. If you need to call us again, that should be a choice, not a dependency.
Honest timelines
Before we quote a project, we estimate the hours it will actually take, not the hours we wish it would take. If scope changes mid-project, we flag it immediately and renegotiate before doing extra work. Surprises on the invoice destroy trust, and trust is the only thing that makes consulting useful.
The team
Nine people, each with a specific area of expertise. Here are the four you're most likely to work with directly.
Margaret Innes
Co-founder, strategy
Margaret spent 14 years at a Big Four firm before co-founding Business Wisdom Partners. She leads our growth strategy practice and has worked with over 60 SMEs across manufacturing, retail and professional services.
David Olusegun
Co-founder, operations
David ran supply-chain projects for a global logistics company before switching to consulting. He designed the operational efficiency audit framework we still use today. His particular interest is reducing lead times in distribution businesses.
Priya Kaur
Senior consultant, finance
Priya builds the financial models and cash-flow forecasts that underpin our strategy recommendations. She holds an MSc in Financial Mathematics from the University of Edinburgh and spent five years in corporate finance before joining the firm in 2021.
Callum Reid
Leadership coach
Callum joined in 2022 after ten years coaching founders and senior managers in the tech sector. He runs our fortnightly 1-to-1 coaching sessions and facilitates the quarterly team workshops. He's also a qualified mediator, which proves useful more often than you'd expect.
Key milestones
A brief timeline of how the firm has developed since 2018.
2018 — Founded in Edinburgh
Margaret and David registered the company and took on their first three clients: a food distributor, an architecture practice and a software start-up. All three are still clients today.
2019 — First full-time hire
Priya joined as a financial analyst. That year we completed 14 engagements and introduced our structured operational audit process.
2020 — Remote delivery model
When in-person meetings became impossible, we moved all workshops online within two weeks. Client satisfaction scores stayed above 90% throughout the year.
2022 — Leadership practice launched
Callum Reid joined to build out our coaching offer. Within six months, leadership development became our fastest-growing service line.
2024 — Team of nine, 120+ completed engagements
We moved to our current office on Windsor Drive and expanded into financial modelling as a standalone service. Client retention rate for the year: 87%.
